RECKLESS DRIVING GETS BRITNEY SPEARS PUT BACK IN MENTAL WARD BUT THIS WAS PLANNED ALL ALONG

Last night, Britney's new psychiatrist went to her home and felt she was a danger to herself and others because of her reckless driving and because of her "downhill behavior." As a result, the shrink launched a plan (days in the making) to have Britney committed to UCLA Medical Center by calling the cops.

The cops knew it was coming. they were supposed to take Britney away the night before, but it was scrapped. Last night, it all went down according to plan. Cops even used code to acomplish the mission in transporting Britney to the hospital. Over the police radio, she was referred to as "The Package."

And when her mom, Lynne, got pissed off, accusing Sam of engineering the impending commitment. Brit told her to "shut the hell up." She demanded silence, sat on the floor and wrote notes to people who were there as they waited. When emergency personnel arrived, Brit went on the gurney without resistance.

When everyone arrived at UCLA, things got crazy. Jamie Spears began screaming at Sam Lutfi, accusing him of trying to control Britney's life. But as far as the doctors are concerned Lynne and Jamie Spears are not calling the shots. The guy for this at least for the docs is Brit's friend, Sam Lutfi.

Britney had something signed after the last episode and doctors are going to Lutfi for guidance. Jamie went off on Lutfi in the hallway, accusing him of trying to control his daughter.

Britney has been calm in the hospital, even taking "cigarette breaks."

If, Britney refuses to take her meds, the plan is for the psychiatrist to go to court and have Britney held for an additional 14 days, during which time he will be administer proper medications.

Britney has already been diagnosed with a bipolar disorder and has sporadically taken her medication. But friends say the meds just aren't working and Britney needs real help...has any one seen Dr. Phil?

Britney Spears Back In The Hospital On Emergancy Hold

Britney Spears was hospitalized at UCLA Medical Center for a psychiatric hold early Thursday morning, after being transported by ambulance from her Studio City home around 1 a.m.

"Spears was escorted by police and is on her way to get help." say's LA, police.

The singer, 26, was transported to UCLA for treatment and evaluation during a 72-hour emergency hold, known as a 5150.

"She went willingly. It was like something in her heart was telling her she should go. She knew something was wrong," acourding to Sam Lutfi.

Police or a mental health professional can request one if a person is deemed to be a danger to herself or others. (Spears was held at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center on such an order earlier this month, following her Jan. 3 custody standoff with police.)

Spears's mother, Lynne friend Alli Sims and Lutfi were all inside the gated mansion when police and the fire department arrived.

What brought on the hospitalization? "She was driving around her neighborhood like a mad-woman," says a Spears family source. "Britney has been prescribed medication which she refuses to take. This is just another sad, sad evening."

Lutfi and Spears's father, Jamie, arrived at the hospital shortly after the singer. Her mother was later spotted leaving the Summit home with Spears's photographer beau, Adnan Ghalib, in the backseat.
Earlier in the night, Internet rumors claimed that the singer had attempted suicide, but Lutfi and Sims both denied those claims to PEOPLE.

Since the January standoff, Spears has been stripped of visitation rights for her two sons Preston, 2, and Jayden, 1. Two sources have said she suffers from a psychological disease, with one source saying, "there is no question she is bipolar... she's had manic episodes for years."

As last night's incident unfolded, a Spears source told friends to simply, "Pray, please."

BRITNEY SPEARS HAS ANOTHER BREAKDOWN

Britney Spears's friends announced that she was seeking psychological treatment, but hold on, not so fast the pop star was in the midst of yet another public breakdown.

The scene began Monday evening, Britney Spears and her confidante Sam Lutfi went for a short drive around Beverly Hills. When they returned to her Summit home at around 6 p.m., the visibly distraught singer – who appeared to be fighting with Lutfi – jumped out of the white Mercedes near the guard gate.

Spears, clutching her Yorkie puppy whom she call's London, wandered around with tears in her eyes and, at one point, sat down on the curb. "She looked completely lost," says those on the scene. Throughout it all, the gathered paparazzi snapped away.

Wearing brown high heels, cutoff shorts and a plaid fedora, Spears then seemed to downplay the incident, saying, "I'm fine. I'm . . . having a nice time with my dog." (She later hopped into a car with another photographer, Filipe Teixeira, who gave her a lift to Ralph's supermarket in Studio City, before bringing her home. He and another photographer pal were then invited inside, where they spent the remainder of the night.)

About thirty minutes later, the scene became even more surreal when Spears's paparazzi pal Adnan Ghalib – who'd been noticeably absent in recent days – showed up at the house. But the photographer was turned away at the gate and not allowed to get close to Britney.

Adnan Ghalib who recently dished on his relationship in a two-part interview on Entertainment Tonight and The Insider – proceeded to show his fellow photographers a series of text messages, allegedly from Lutfi, the sender calls Ghalib a "manic trigger" for Spears and adds ominously that any further contact between the two "will kill her."

Police cars pulled up to the house soon afterward, responding to a call from security at Spears's gated community. "Spears drove through the gates and paparazzi followed her car on foot," said LAPD Officer Mike Lopez. "By the time officers arrived, the paparazzi were off the property, but officers handed out citations for those who were illegally parked."


But Britney's crazy night was far from over. Her father Jamie and mother Lynne – who recently flew into L.A. from Kentwood, La., where she'd been holed up with Spears's pregnant sister, 16-year-old Jamie Lynn – arrived at the estate around 9 p.m. (Earlier in the day, Lynne had spent time visiting Britney's kids – Preston, 2, and Jayden, 1 – at Kevin Federline's house in Tarzana.)

The family reunion didn't last long, however – as Spears, clutching a bag, bolted from the mansion. She hopped into a car with Ghalib and the two sped off.

Once again Britney got a flat tire, the two pulled into a Chevron to pump air into the deflated tire, then returned to the Summit house – where mom Lynne, and the two photographers, still waited – at around 11 p.m. (Ghalib left soon afterward.)

Then Britney and her mom soon surfaced at around 1:30 a.m., with Lynne driving Spears to Longs Drugs in Studio City. Where her night soon ended.

BRITNEY SPEARS OTHER COURT CASE

The judge in Britney Spears' other court case -- the one for driving without a valid license back in August continued the case for the last time. Superior Court Judge T.K Herman said if the legal matter is not resolved by February 20, it will go to trial.

Both sides are still working out a deal. We're told prosecutors wanted to put Brit on 12 months probation, but agreed to let go of probation if she agreed to pay the maximum fine of $3,000. Brit's lawyer, Michael Flanagan, won't accept those terms and wants the misdemeanor charge lowered to a fix-it ticket.

Britney then sped away driving on Sunset at speeds near 100 mph and on the wrong side of the road. But she had to go back to Petco -- WHY??,, to pick up her new assistant, who had been forgotten on the first stop.

DAY 2 OF BRITNEY SPEARS DEPOSITIONS

Britney Spears's deposition at the hands of Kevin Federline lawyer Mark Vincent Kaplan has been an emotionally difficult experience that has only just begun, say's Kaplan.

"We are going over things that are very, very gut-wrenching," Kaplan said Monday night, speaking outside of Katsuya restaurant in Brentwood. He declined to discuss specifics of the questioning, but said, "Just to revisit them even in your own mind would not be pleasurable."

"It's not something anyone would enjoy," he says.

Spear has a spotty record with past deposition dates in the custody case, missing numerous appointments and sitting for only 14 minutes on Jan. 3. Kaplan is expected to be grilling Spears, 26, about past drug and alcohol use, her failure to comply with court orders and any other subject relating to her fitness as a parent.

After a meltdown and brief forced hospitalization, Spears lost visitation rights with sons Preston, 2, and Jayden, 1. Ex-husband Federline, 29, has sole legal and physical custody.

Even Monday's session was in doubt.

"She was about 50 minutes late," he says. "After an hour I would have been over it. I was prepared to terminate had she not showed at that time."

Spears was spotted biting her fingernails when arriving to Kaplan's Century City Plaza office. After spending more than two hours there, Spears appeared tense and lit up a cigarette behind the wheel of her Mercedes before driving through Beverly Hills listening to Madonna on the stereo.

The deposition on a national holiday Monday was booked after the shortened deposition on Jan. 3. The holiday booking was done to accommodate busy lawyer schedules, says Kaplan, and it "did dovetail into allowing this to be a low-profile appearance."

Kaplan says there will further depositions in the unspecified future, claiming that he has only worked through "2 percent" of his questions.

"There is a lot of work to be done," he says. But he adds he was heartened by the idea of even having the meeting in the first place.

"She came for her deposition, that's great," says Kaplan. "Showing up is form over substance."

Four paparazzi have been arrested for reckless driving after chasing Britney Spears

Around 11:20 PM last night, according to police reports, eight vehicles driven by news hungry paparazzi, were observed driving at a high rate of speed and making dangerous lane changes in and around Mission Hills. Four of the drivers were arrested.

Britney Spears told cops that one of the cars tried to "run her off the road," but she couldn't ID which car it was, so no action was taken. After the traffic commotion finished Britney went to a clothing store at about 1:30 in the morning, Britney made them open up the store where she proceeded to spend about $10,000 bucks.

Kevin Fed arrived at LA Superior Court's monday morning for the latest round in his ongoing custody fight with ex-wife Britney Spears.

Federline appeared late, he was wearing a blue pinstripe suit.

But Btitney Spears, remained at home. Britney said she had "no plans" to attend the session. Another source said she had been "strongly advised" by her legal team to attend the hearing, adding that the singer was told that "her attendance is important." She still chose to blow it off.

Kevin Federline, currently retains sole legal and physical custody of the couple's two sons, Preston, 2, and Jayden, 1. Spears was stripped of all visitation rights following her hospitalization.

Also at issue Monday is whether the court will extend its ban on Spears's visitation. Federline's lawyer, Mark Vincent Kaplan, say's that it's possible Spears might not see her children until April, when the ex-couple's custody trial begins.

Over the weekend, Spears continued to be seen with paparazzi pho tog Adnan Ghalib,. Among their stops were a Mercedes dealership and a department store, where Spears reportedly shouted a profanity at a bystander who attempted to take her photo.

Family members and professionals in Britney's life are working as a team to get her mental help either voluntarily or involuntarily.

Her family say's it's going to happen one way or the other, and fast. So far, Britney refuses to commit herself voluntarily, but the Brit crew is persisting.

We are considering "a number of options," some of which are "creative."

If we have to go to court and get a order forcing Britney into in-patient treatment. We will but that would be the last ditch effort.

Britney may need to be picked up by cops -- again -- on a "5150," meaning she's a danger to herself or others. Then, while she's in the hospital, health care professionals can go to the County Public Guardian, who can then go to court and ask for what's called a "conservatorship." The conservator would then basically assume control of Brit's life.

If the judge grants the conservatorship, Britney could be involuntarily committed to a mental hospital. Again, that's not the only option and various alternatives are being discussed right now.

Indeed, we're told she refused and continues to refuse to undergo tests that would officially diagnose the bipolar disorder.

Jamie and Lynne Spears believe Sam Lutfi, the guy who was inseparable from Brit until last week, was a prime reason she was refusing treatment. They dislike Lutfi so much that they threw him out of Britney's Cedars Hospital room last week.

Britney Spears' family says "Dr. Phil" should keep his mouth shut

Lou Taylor, a business manager for Spears' mother, Lynne, and younger sister, Jamie Lynn, appeared on NBC's "Today" show Wednesday and said McGraw had betrayed the family's trust by talking to the media about Spears' mental health after showing up at the 26-year-old pop star's hospital room on Saturday for a visit.

"The family basically extended an invitation of trust for him to come in as a resource to support them, not to go out and make public statements," Taylor said.

Taylor said McGraw was invited to the hospital by Spears' family, but "he was not invited to make this part of a public display or part of the media."

McGraw said earlier this week that he was shelving plans for a show on Spears' latest breakdown. He said Spears' predicament was "too intense" for him to go on with the show.


Mental health professionals also criticized McGraw this week, saying he went too far by showing up at Spears' room at Cedars-Sinai.

McGraw fired back at his critics "Somebody needs to step up and get this young woman into some quality care — and I do not apologize one whit, not one second, for trying to make that happen," he said.

After Dr. Phil visited Britney Spears post-meltdown at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, he was quick to report that the pop star was “in dire need of both medical and psychological intervention,” reported BBC News. Now, the host of “The Dr. Phil Show” is canning the plans for taping a show about the singer’s many breakdowns.

Dr. Phil would have taped the show Monday. But, according to Reuters.com, the TV psychologist explained, “Because the Spears situation is too intense at this time, and out of consideration to the family, I have made the decision not to move forward with the taping.”

Britney Spears had her car towed away and her visit to a high-end hotel triggered a scuffle between a photographer and a security guard.

The scuffle resulted in police being called to the Four Seasons Hotel near Beverly Hills about 90 minutes after they had a private towing company haul Spears' car away.

"She was leaving the hotel when one of the paparazzi and a security guard at the hotel had a scuffle,".


Spears left her 2008 Mercedes-Benz on busy Sunset Boulevard, near the University of California, Los Angeles campus, about 8 p.m. Monday because of a flat tire.

"She left it unattended and it was blocking traffic, so it was towed,".

It was unlikely Spears would be ticketed because the car was disabled, but police said she would have to pay a towing and impound fee to get it back. The vehicle was taken to Quicksilver Towing, where an employee who answered the phone Tuesday said he didn't know if it was still there.

Spears caught a ride home from a member of the paparazzi. Then it was off to the Four Seasons.

The car and hotel incidents were only minor bumps in the road for Spears, who is involved in a bitter, public custody dispute with ex-husband Kevin Federline over the couple's sons, 1-year-old Jayden James and 2-year-old Sean Preston.

Britney Spears Drug Tests Negative

Britney Spears drug tests have come back negative,. Police may have said that Britney Spears appeared to be under the influence of a substance when she was taken from her home last night, her blood tests at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center came back negative.


"Her blood test just came back, and, thank God, it was clean. There are no traces of drugs or alcohol of any kind," a source close to the Spears family tells Life & Style.



Early reports indicated that cops believed Britney appeared to be under the influence of a substance when they arrived on the scene. But an LAPD spokesperson was unable to confirm or deny that information.
